Ridings for Canada's 2025 Elections

Updated electoral districts (ridings) are available for Canada's 2025 elections

Canada will be holding federal elections before October 2025, and on January 25th, Ontario's leader announced that he would call an early election.

Geocodio can help you look up the federal and provincial ridings in bulk via API or spreadsheet upload. Here's what you need to know.

Federal Ridings If you're looking for federal ridings, you have two different options for which districts you would like to append: the current districts, and the redistricted districts. Our practice is to return the districts for currently-sitting legislators as the default, and return upcoming districts under "-next."

Current districts (i.e. legislators currently represent these districts)

If you want the districts that are currently represented in Parliament, you should use the default "riding" append. This will return the districts that took effect in 2013.

Upcoming districts (will be in effect for the 2025 elections)

In 2023, Canada announced new districts based on the 2021 Census, to be used in any election after April 2024. If you want the districts that will be represented in Parliament after the 2025 elections, you should use the "riding-next" append with the API, or select the 2023 districts in the upload tool.

Ontario Ridings

Ridings for Ontario, and other provinces, are available under the provriding append with the API and "Canadian Provincial/Territorial Ridings (Electoral Districts)" in the spreadsheet upload tool.

There are no pending redistricting changes, so the current districts are also the districts that will be used in upcoming elections.
